Slow Cooker Pulled Pork

Ah, the beloved slow cooker. So convenient, so simple, and always delivering delicious meals.  I have been wanting to make pulled pork since I purchased my crock pot months ago (late, I know). After tons of recipe research I have developed a recipe that is both spicy & sweet, tender, and very simple. The house smelt amazing while this was cooking. Eat it simply in a dish (I like it with some grilled pineapple), with eggs, in a sandwich, for taco night, or even make quesadillas (roasted red peppers and caramelized onions, anyone?)!

  • 1 4lb. grass-fed organic pork shoulder roast
  • 1/4 cup chicken broth
Meat Rub:
  • 2 tsp smoked paprika
  • 1 tbsp chili powder
  • 1 tbsp ground cumin
  • 1 tbsp garlic power
  • 1 tbsp onion powder
  • 1 tsp oregano
  • 1-2 tsp cayenne pepper (optional)
  • Himalayan sea salt and freshly ground black pepper
Homemade BBQ Sauce (or use your favorite store-bought):
  • 1 15 oz. can organic diced tomato
  • 1 6 oz. can organic tomato paste
  • 1/4 cup organic chicken stock
  • 1 tbsp organic Worcestershire sauce (can omit)
  • 3 garlic cloves, crushed
  • 2 tbsp apple cider vinegar
  • 1 tbsp olive oil
  • 1 tbsp raw honey (if you don’t want it too sweet, omit honey)
  • 1/2 cup pineapple juice
  • 1 tbsp organic Dijon mustard
  • 1 tsp cayenne
  • 2 tbsp paprika
  • 1/4 tsp red pepper flakes
  • Himalayan salt and freshly ground pepper, to taste

  1. Make the sauce: In a medium sauce pan combine all sauce ingredients and mix well. Bring to a boil then reduce heat and let simmer over low heat uncovered, mixing occasionally, for 40 minutes
  2. Prep the meat:
    1. In a bowl combine rub ingredients. Rub the meat with the spice mix, making sure every area is covered
    2. Place the meat in the crock pot
    3. Add 1/4 cup chicken broth
    4. Cover and cook on low heat for 10 hours
  3. Remove the meat and place it on a cutting board. Let cool for a few minutes. When cool, using 2 forks shred the meat into bite-sized pieces, discarding any large pieces of fat
  4. Empty the crock pot and place shredded meat back in
  5. Add a full batch of my homemade BBQ sauce or use your favorite store-bought sauce (read ingredients, many have high-fructose corn syrup as the first ingredient)
  6. Mix sauce well with the meat and let cook for one hour until hot. Taste and add salt and pepper as desired

  1. I consider the many methods you’ve got told her i would your posting. They are simply begging and can certainly do the job. However, the particular content have become speedy for novices. Can you please stretch these people just a little through the very next time? Was looking for write-up.
